UNDER-13 GIRLS WIN GOLD
The St. Anne’s Academy
Under-13 Girls Basketball Team captured the NLBA Under-13 East Coast
Championships at Mount Pearl Intermediate last weekend. The team played
five
games in total, winning four and losing just one by a single point
margin. The
girls had to defeat a strong Brother Rice team from St. John’s twice to
capture
the gold and they did it. Both of these games were decided by a single
point as
well, providing evidence of the girls’ desire to rise above all
challenges.
Shauna Griffiths captured the MVP Award, but the entire team stepped up
and
contributed when it counted. Congratulations go out to Cassandra
Cheeseman,
Paula Milley, Elizabeth Dollmont, Megan Gear, Heather Pike, Shauna
Griffiths,
Shania Griffiths, Shilah Griffiths, Victoria Griffin, MacKenzie Gambin,
Madison
Cahill, Hailey Fudge, Rebecca Halfyard, Allison Kelly, and Kelsey
Lundrigan. A
team meal at Pizza Hut, followed by a motorcade through our town, and a
championship banner raising ceremony in the school gym crowned an
experience
that each member of the team will long remember.

Issue 3 of Pages
of Pride, our school newspaper, is now on sale at a cost of $1.00 per

you. Please
consider supporting us. Just as with previous issues, a monetary
donation will
be forwarded on to a local charity. Parents will have an opportunity to
purchase the newspaper at next Thursday’s Parent-Teacher Interview
sessions.
