* Read all labels carefully, on commercially prepared foods to ensure that NO peanut or peanut
products, such as peanut oil or peanut flour were used in making the food.

“May contain peanuts” is precautionary labeling and indicates the food was made in the same area as
peanut-containing-foods. The child who has a peanut allergy should not eat foods which state “may contain
peanuts,” but it is safe for the allergic child to be around children eating these foods.
