Allergy Alert
We have students and staff members who have severe allergies. These allergies include fish, peanuts, seafood, and eggs. We also have someone who has severe allergies to scents and scented products. We are asking that students DO NOT bring fish, seafood, eggs, egg sandwiches, shellfish, peanuts, peanut products, or sandwiches made with fish for their lunches. It is also important to remember that Acreman Elementary is a scent free facility. We need to have the cooperation of all people to ensure everyone’s safety.

Parent Survey
The Eastern School District is in the first year of its 2011-2014 Strategic Plan. Goal 1 in the plan states that “By June 30, 2014, Eastern School District will have enhanced learning opportunities to support student achievement and success”. One of the performance measures for this goal is to complete an Environmental Scan of Inclusionary Practices throughout the District. The Programs Division has compiled five different on-line surveys to attain this outcome: Inclusive Education Environmental Scan for Educators, Inclusive Education Environmental Scan for Support Staff, Inclusive Education Environmental Scan for Students (7-12), Inclusive Education Environmental Scan for Parents/Guardians and Inclusive Education Environmental Scan for Community Partners. These web-based surveys have
been compiled using Google Docs and can be accessed using the various links at the end of this memo. All surveys will be open for the period of Wednesday, May 2, 2012 to Friday, June 1, 2012. Please note the following information for each representative group: The information gathered from this Inclusion Environmental Scan will assist the District in establishing and improving initiatives to support schools as they continue to build an Inclusive Philosophy. School administration and staff are an important stakeholder group for the Eastern School District. Your ideas and feedback are crucial in helping to improve the educational experiences for our students. The Parent/Guardian Survey consists of 18 questions and should take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete. Principals are asked to use an upcoming School Council meeting to explain the survey to parent/guardian representatives and invite input.

Grade 2 and 3 Swimming

Free Bicycle Helmets
The office of Ches Crosbie Barristers is offering a province wide Give away of Helmets for any child who needs one. Their firm is focused on safety at all levels and are pleased to be engaged in this program. Deadline is June 12 and all details are on their website at http://autoaccidentclaims.ca/?p=611
Picking Up Students
We ask that when parents arrive at the school to pick up their children at the end of the school day that they wait in the area next to the office where the bench is. There have been parents going into the gym during gym classes or into other classes and waiting there until class is over. This is still instructional time and we respectfully ask parents to wait outside the classrooms, gym, library, and computer room until classes are over. Also, we ask that parents not wait in the staff room as this is a place where teachers work and prepare for their classes during their preparation periods. We thank you for your help with this matter.
Homework on Website
Just a reminder to parents and students that all homework for all grades is posted on our school website at http://school.esdnl.ca/acreman/

It is open to all children up to 12 years and is a great way for children to unwind after all day in class. There are lots of games, singing, crafts, and good times with new friends and old.
